Our weekly fantasy football waiver wire takes a look at the top pickups at each position for Week 5 of the 2018 NFL season. Many of these players are still available in a majority of leagues and could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster. Others might be worth stashing on your bench or are simply just players to add to your watch list. With that in mind, here’s a list of players should you consider adding to your squad for Week 5.
For a more in-depth look at the players on this list, watch our our Week 5 waiver wire video.
Top QB pickup: Mitchell Trubisky (15% owned)
Trubisky completed 19-of-26 passes for 354 yards and six touchdowns in the Bears’ Week 4 win over the Buccaneers. Not only was he only just one-score short of tying the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a single game, he also led his team with 53 yards rushing. This can’t possibly be expected from Trubisky moving forward, but he should be able to stay hot as a solid streaming option against the Dolphins after their Week 5 bye.
Top RB pickup: Aaron Jones (75% owned)
Jones rushed 11 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in the Packers’ Week 4 win over the Bills. He added a 17-yard reception for 82 total yards. Jones once again came off the bench behind Jamaal Williams, but continues to look more explosive and has now out-produced Williams in each of his appearances this season. While it appears he will continue to be in timeshare with Williams and Ty Montgomery, Jones is at least in the weekly FLEX discussion.
RB priority list: Aaron Jones (75% owned), T.J. Yeldon (50% owned), Austin Ekeler (65% owned), Rashaad Penny (65% owned), Nick Chubb (20% owned), Tarik Cohen (65% owned), Ronald Jones II (25% owned), Nyheim Hines (15% owned), Mike Davis (5% owned)
Top WR pickup: Tyler Boyd (75% owned)
Boyd hauled in 11-of-15 targets for 100 yards in the Bengals’ Week 4 win over the Falcons. He has back-to-back 100-yard receiving games while seeing seven or more targets in three straight. With Andy Dalton playing great and Tyler Eifert out for the year with a broken ankle, Boyd should return at worst WR3 value the rest of the way.
WR priority list: Tyler Boyd (75% owned), John Brown (75% owned), Keke Coutee (5% owned), Dede Westbrook (20% owned), Michael Gallup (15% owned), Cameron Meredith (15% owned), Taylor Gabriel (5% owned), Martavis Bryant (5% owned), Willie Snead IV (5% owned), Chester Rogers (5% owned), Donte Moncrief (5% owned), Jordan Matthews (5% owned)
Top TE pickup: Greg Olsen (50% owned)
With injuries to O.J. Howard and Tyler Eifert in Week 4, owners will once again be looking to the wire for a TE replacement. If injuries have left you desperate at TE and you have a roster spot to spare, adding Olsen could pan out. Olsen may return from a foot injury soon, but Week 5 may be a bit of a stretch. He has said he is “way ahead of the curve” in his recovery, but owners may have to be patient.
