Our weekly waiver wire takes a look at the top pickups for Week 9 of the NFL season. Many of these players are still available in a majority of leagues and could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster. Others might be worth stashing on your bench, or are simply just players to add to your watch list. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Running Backs

Denard Robinson JAX | WR/RB

Even after a huge Week 7 Robinson stayed on the waiver wire in about half of all leagues. At this point I am sure that there are many fantasy owners kicking themselves for not picking him up. He appears to be the real deal and I see no reason why the Jags will not continue to feed him the rock. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Charles Sims TB | RB

Doug Martin has been terrible and the Bucs are going to have to explore other options at running back. They are going to activate Sims Week 9 and he could make an instant impact. Sims needs to be added in all leagues until we see how many touches this talented rookie is going to get. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Jonas Gray NE | RB

Oh the joys of the New England running game. I wish Bill Belichick would consider fantasy football just a little bit when it comes to his running back rotations. At this point it looks like Gray is going to take over the Steven Ridley role and Shane Vereen will go back to being the full time passing back. At least that’s what it looks like for now and for that reason Gray needs to be owned in all leagues. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Anthony Dixon BUF | RB

The Bills couldn’t get anything going on the ground Week 8, as Dixon and Bryce Brown were held to about two yards per carry. We did get some questions answered though when it comes to who is going to be the featured back. At this point it seems clear that the Bills trust Dixon much more than Brown and as of now it appears that Dixon is the guy to own. (about 35% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Devonta Freeman ATL | RB

At this point I think we can officially say that Freeman is the second most valuable running back in Atlanta. Atlanta’s four headed running back monster has been a fantasy nightmare this year, but I think we are finally getting some answers. Freeman has looked great in limited action and if he gets a more expanded role then he could have huge value. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Theo Riddick DET | RB

The Lions have some weapons at running back, but Reggie Bush and Joique Bell have had a hard time staying healthy this year. Riddick has decent value if one of those two are hurt and at this point I think it’s pretty likely that one of them will be in street clothes for more games this year. I am a fan of Riddick but he is more of a receiving running back and he doesn’t have much value in standard leagues, keep that in mind if you are thinking about picking him up. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Lorenzo Taliaferro BAL | RB

Right when it looks like Bernard Pierce had passed Taliaferro on the depth chart, then here comes Taliaferro back into the mix. Pierce was a healthy scratch Week 8 and it’s clear that the Ravens want to get Taliaferro more touches. As of now it’s still Justin Forsett’s job, but Taliaferro is worth an add in most leagues as a potential bye week fill in with a big upside. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Wide Receivers

Brandon LaFell NE | WR

I was shocked to see that LaFell was only owned in about 40% of all leagues. I don’t trust the New England receivers either, but he is still worth at least a bench spot in all leagues. He is a talented player that plays on a great offense and he should have a few more big games this year. If you guess right on the weeks to put him in your starting lineup then he could help your squad down the stretch. (about 40% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Odell Beckham Jr. NYG | WR

The Giants had their bye Week 8 and I know that’s why Beckham wasn’t pickup in more leagues, but he needs to be owned in all leagues before Week 9 starts. The rookie receiver has made a huge impact since coming back from injury and he should continue to be a big part of the Giants offense. Pick this guy up if he is still available in your league. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Allen Robinson JAX | WR

Robinson is quietly having a great season and it’s time that the fantasy world take notice. Most of this production has come during garbage time, but there is no reason to believe that the Jags are going to turn into a good football team. So this should mean plenty of garbage time for Robinson for the rest of the season. (about 25% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

John Brown ARI | WR

This rookie is electric and his talents were on display late in the game as he caught a game winning 75 yard touchdown. He is the 3rd receiver for the Cardinals so he is going to be hard to trust from week to week, but in deeper leagues he is worth a look. The Cardinals will continue to find ways to get the ball in this kids hands and I am excited to see what he can do. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Martavis Bryant PIT | WR

The rookie receiver for the Steelers has looked great over the last couple of weeks and he should have the fantasy worlds attention. The Steelers have many weapons on offense and they are looking great on that side of the ball. Even though Bryant is currently the #3 option in the passing game, I still think he should see enough targets each week to be relevant. There is also a chance that he over takes Markus Wheaton as the Steelers #2 receiver. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Kenny Britt STL | WR

Britt hasn’t looked great this year, but he is going to have to do more with Brian Quick being out for the season. The Rams offense couldn’t afford to take any big hits and a bad offense just got worse. I don’t expect Britt to be great, however he should see enough targets to be relevant in most leagues. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Quarterbacks

Michael Vick NYJ | QB

Even though Vick didn’t look much better than Geno Smith Week 8, I still think he has some solid fantasy value. Vick still has some wheels and I expect him to run the ball a decent amount from week to week. Even if he only throws for 200 yards, but adds in 70 rushing yards, then you will be happy his production. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Kyle Orton BUF | QB

How about that Kyle Orton. When he was announced the starter I don’t think many people gave him a chance, but the guy has been great since taking over as the starting quarterback for the Bills. Orton needs to be considered in all deeper leagues and any type of two quarterback leagues. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Tight Ends

Jace Amaro NYJ | TE

Amaro is having a great rookie season and at this point he needs to be considered in the fantasy world. He has had at least 5 targets in each of the last three weeks and it’s clear that the Jets trust their new tight end. I don’t think I would put him in the TE1 conversation just yet, but he is getting close. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Defenses

Cleveland CLE | DEF

The Browns D has been solid all year, in most leagues averaging about eight fantasy points a week. Week 9 they have a nice matchup at home against the Bucs and I like their chances of having another solid week. They have yet to have a huge week in terms of fantasy points, but there is certainly something to be said about a defense that consistently scores close to ten points a week. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Kansas City KC | DEF

The Chiefs defense has been solid this year and they have a juicy matchup against the turnover happy Jets Week 9. They will be playing at home which is an added plus and you know the Jets are good for at least a couple of turnovers. I think the Chiefs could easily be a top 5 defense Week 9 and they are a strong option as a pickup and play. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Cincinnati KC | DEF

It’s the Bengals turn the play the Jags Week 9 and that’s really all I need to say. The Jags have been terrible on offense and the Bengals are pretty much a lock for about 8+ points this week. (about 70% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Individual Defensive Players

NaVorro Bowman SF | LB

Bowman was one of the best IDP players last year and he could be back as early as Week 9. He is recovering from a February knee surgery and hopefully when he returns he will be the tackle machine that we are used to seeing. It’s a bit of a gamble picking him up, but it could pay off big if you need help with your IDP players. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues
