Each week during the NFL season FST brings you our Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups, which breaks down players available in many leagues that could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster, or simply just players to keep on your radar. Let’s take a look at some of the hottest pickups at each position heading into Week 6 of the NFL season. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Quarterbacks

Alex Smith KC | QB

Smith has had some big games this year and I really like his chances week 6 against the Raiders. He has put up solid overall numbers, but a lot of people forget what he is able to do with his legs. Smith already has close to 200 rushing yards on the season for the Chiefs and they should be able to move the ball at will against the Raiders next week. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Running Backs

Zac Stacy STL | RB

Stacy got the start for the Rams week 5 and he played well before getting injured in the fourth quarter. The reports are saying that he just got the wind knocked out of him, so he should be ready by next week. Stacy played well enough to hold onto the starting gig and I fully expect him to be the man for the Rams until further notice. (about 20% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Willis McGahee CLE | RB

At this point in his career it’s hard to get too excited about McGahee, but he is still a starting running back in the NFL. It could be harder for the Browns to move the ball with Hoyer out for the year, though I still think they have enough weapons to be decent. McGahee should touch the ball 15+ times each week and as long as he can stay healthy he should have value in all leagues. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Pierre Thomas NO | RB

Where did that game come from? Thomas has been decent this year, but I don’t think anyone expected him to ever out catch Darren Sproles. Thomas was targeted 9 times in the passing game and he hauled in all 9 including 2 touchdowns. I doubt he will consistently be that involved in the passing game, however it is something to pay close attention to and I think it makes him a must add in all leagues. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Andre Ellington ARI | RB

Ellington continues to be a big part of the Cardinals offense and he has consistently outplayed Mendenhall. He averaged over 7 yards per carry with his 7 carries week 5 and he threw in 4 catches for over 30 yards. The Cards are going to have to continue to get Ellington more involved since Mendenhall hasn’t been playing that great. At this point I think Ellington is almost a must add in all leagues and if Mendenhall were to get hurt then he could have a ton of value. (about 25% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Brandon Jacobs NYG | RB

With Wilson banged up it looks like the old man Jacobs could be in line for a lot of touches on Thursday night against the Bears. It’s not the best matchup and he didn’t look that great week 5, but if you are desperate for a running back you could do a lot worse. The injury to Wilson is a little scary, so if he ends up missing extended time then Jacobs could have decent short term value. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Roy Helu Jr. WAS | RB

All signs are pointing to Alfred Morris being ready for week 6, so I don’t think Helu is a must add in all leagues. However, I do think he is worth an add in deeper leagues until we know for sure that Morris will be ready. Helu is one of the best handcuffs in the league and if he does get a chance to start at some point this year he will have a huge upside. All Morris owners should deeply consider picking up Helu for a little extra security. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Wide Receivers

Justin Blackmon JAX | WR

If you had a chance to pick up Blackmon before this weeks games then I am sure you are kicking yourself. He had a monster week which included a long touchdown early in the game. The Jags offense looked a lot better with Blackmon in the lineup and he should continue to be a big part of their offense moving forward. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Alshon Jeffery CHI | WR

I had Jeffery on this list last week as a must add in deeper leagues, but at this point though he is a must add in all leagues. He had a monster game against the Saints and it’s clear that he is one of Cutler’s favorite targets. The opposing defenses are giving Marshall so much attention and this leaves Jeffery with a ton of single coverage. (about 70% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Robert Woods BUF | WR

The rookie receiver for the Bills continues to impress and with Stevie Johnson getting banged up week 5 they might need to get Woods even more involved. He has had double digit targets in 2 of his last 3 games and he has already found the end zone twice this year. I am not expecting huge things from Woods, but in deeper leagues he could be a serviceable option to get you through your bye weeks. (about 35% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Rueben Randle NYG | WR

Randle was a favorite late round sleeper for a lot of fantasy owners, but after a slow start he was dropped in a ton of leagues. He finally had a big game for the Giants week 5 and this has put him back on the fantasy map. There is a chance that the winless Giants will want to see what this young kid can do and I wouldn’t be surprised if they start to phase out Nicks since their playoff hopes all but over at this point. (about 40% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Keenan Allen SD | WR

Rivers is having a great year, but until recently he hasn’t been getting his wide receivers involved. The rookie out of California has had 2 good games in a row and this makes him an intriguing add in deeper leagues. The Chargers offense seems to be running on all cylinders right now and I think Allen should continue to be one of the favorite targets for Rivers. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Individual Defensive Players

Daryl Washington ARI | LB

I had Washington on this list last week and after what he did week 5 I had to make sure he was on this list again. He is one of those linebackers that always seems to be around the ball and this proved true week 5. He ended with 2 sacks an interceptions and 8 tackles. He needs to be owned in all IDP leagues and he should be a top fantasy linebacker for the rest of the season. (about 30% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all IDP leagues

Defense/Special Teams

New York Jets NYJ | DEF

The Jets defense has been decent this year and I like their chances at home against the Steelers week 6. They will be at home and even though the Steelers are coming off of a bye, I feel the Jets will be able to get some pressure on Big Ben. They are a top ten defense in terms of sacks this year and when you combine that with the Steelers terrible offensive line, I think this could mean at least a few sacks for the Jets. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play
