Each week during the NFL season FST brings you our Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups, which breaks down players available in many leagues that could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster, or simply just players to keep on your radar. Let’s take a look at some players at each position that might be worthy of scooping off the waiver wire heading into Week 8 of the NFL season. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Running Backs

Rashad Jennings JAC | RB

Everyone that had been saving their number 1 waiver is in for a treat this week. It looks like MJD has some kind of major foot injury, and he should miss at least a couple weeks. This makes Jennings a must add in all leagues, and if MJD is out for the year this could make Jennings a top 15 RB. He played pretty well week 7 after the MJD injury, and he should get a ton of touches in the running and passing game. (about 25% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Daryl Richardson STL | RB

I have talked about Richardson all season and at this point I am calling him a must add in all leagues. The overworked Steven Jackson is starting to surrender a lot of touches to Richardson, and at this point it’s almost a 50/50 split. He is a backup that already has some value, and if Jackson goes down he could he huge. The upside to Richardson is way to high to let him just sit on the wire, pick him up if he is available. (about 40% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

LaRod Stephens-Howling ARI | RB

Right when it looks like Powell is going to be the guy to own for the Cardinals here comes Stephens-Howling. LaRod had a great game against the Vikings rushing for over 100 yards and adding 4 catches for 45 yards as well. Powell fumbled early and watched most of the game from the sideline, and it looks like LaRod is the guy to own moving forward. The Cards have a matchup against the 9ers week 8, so if you do pick him up you will probably have to wait until week 9 before he maybe makes your lineup. (about 20% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Alex Green GB | RB

I am still not a big fan of Green, and his 1.8 yards per carry average week 7 should help you understand why. He carried the ball 20 times and only managed 35 yards, but the reason he is on the list is because of his receiving stats. He caught 4 passes for 29 yards which gave him a grand total of 24 touches for the Packers. If his production continues to be so poor he might not get as many touches, but anyone that sees that much work on the Packers offense is worth owning in Fantasy. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Vick Ballard IND | RB

Once Brown comes back from injury there is no guarantee that he gets his job back. Ballard hasn’t looked amazing in relief, but he might be able to push Brown for the starting gig. I think he is certainly worth an add in most leagues just to stash on your bench and see what happens. (about 40% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Montario Hardesty CLE | RB

The injury to Richardson might be more serious than we thought, and this makes Hardesty a guy that we need to keep an eye on. He has looked ok this year with limited touches, and I think he can easily handle the load if he is called upon. I think he is worth a stash in a lot of leagues until we see exactly how serious the injury to Richardson is. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Wide Receivers

Jeremy Kerley NYJ | WR

Kerley had another big game week 7 and he is proving to be the best fantasy option at receiver for the Jets. Sanchez hasn’t looked terrible as of late, and now that the running game is starting to click this should open up the pass. The second year player out of TCU is working on a breakout year, and I think he is worth an add in a lot of leagues. (about 45% owned)
Recommendation: Should be owned in deeper leagues

Josh Gordon CLE | WR

Gordon does it again, for the third straight week he has found the end zone. The crazy thing about it though is that he has 4 TDs in the last 3 weeks, but he only has 7 catches. Gordon continues to be Weeden’s favorite deep threat target, and with a couple decent match ups coming up I really like him as an add. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Darrius Heyward-Bey OAK | WR

Heyward-Bey is back from injury and he had a decent week 7 against the Jags. The Raiders have struggled to get consistent production from any of their receivers, and I think Heyward-Bey has the most potential to be the main guy for their passing game. He was just under 1,000 yards last year, and I think he could have a solid second half of the season. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Chris Givens STL | WR

The Rams play the Patriots week 8 and all signs point to them needing to pass a ton to try to keep up. Daniel Gibson is certainly one of the most targeted receivers for the Rams since Amendola got hurt, but let’s not forget about Givens. The rookie out of Wake Forest has a couple big games in a row, and I like his chances week 8. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Santana Moss WAS | WR

I felt like I needed to talk about Moss after his 2 TD performance, but I would only pick him up in deeper leagues. Once Garcon comes back that is going to really hurt the value of Moss, and he only has 19 catches so far on the season. Moss is past his prime, and I don’t think the Skins have plans to put him back on the fantasy map. (about 45% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Brandon Weeden CLE | QB

Weeden is one of many rookie QBs that is making some noise this year, and until this point I wasn’t really buying into him or the Browns offense. They finally have a running game with Richardson, and with Gordon breaking out Weeden has a solid deep threat. I am not expecting him to be consistent, but he could offer solid QB2 value. (about 20% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Josh Freeman TB | QB

You can’t put too much stock into the numbers for Freeman week 7, but that gives him 3 great outings in a row. The Bucs QB has new targets with Clark and Jackson, and the Bucs offense has looked like a new team in 2012. I still expect Freeman to be somewhat inconsistent, but I really like his upside moving forward. (about 55% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Tight Ends

Brandon Myers OAK | TE

The Oakland passing game has been all over the place this year, but one of the constants has been Myers. He isn’t going to put up amazing numbers, but he has value as a bye week fill in for PPR leagues. He has yet to find the end zone, but he has 28 catches so far this year, and he has been over 50 yards receiving in 4 games. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look in PPR leagues

Defense/Special Teams

Atlanta ATL | DEF

I really like Atlanta’s D week 8, even though they are on the road in Philly. The Eagles have given up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses, and the Falcons are currently a top 10 fantasy defense. I think the Eagles will be able to put some points on the board against the Falcons, but I expect at least a couple sacks and a couple turnovers. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Must add pickup and play

Miami MIA | DEF

The Fins play the Jets week 8 and I think they should have some success on defense. They are coming off of a bye so they should be fresh and ready to get after Sanchez. You never know which Sanchez is going to show up from week to week for the Jets, so I like the chances of double digit fantasy points for the Dolphins. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play

Individual Defensive Players

Vontaze Burfict CIN | LB

The un-drafted rookie with off field issues was given a shot by the Bengals and he is taking full advantage. He already has over 40 total tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery on the season. He has a bye week 8, but look for him to pick up right were he left off when they get back week 9. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look in all IDP leagues
