CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK is here. If you have been reading this article I have had some good calls and some bad ones (not bragging here but a ton of the calls have been dead on – I mean a six week straight pick-up and play defenses that scored a TD was a nice run) If you made it to your championship I am sure you have studs so prior to reading this just know, don’t sit them now and over think it. I want to thank everyone for coming to our site during the football season – now let’s get you that championship! If you have any start’em sit’em questions feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.
Coming off a career high of 161 rushing yards you might be thinking it is time to start Brown over one of your studs (see Peterson below). I would not have the guts to make that call and in your championship game I dont think you can sit your studs. Brown was well on his way to a solid fantasy day then had an 80 yard touchdown run that put him over the top, I am not calling his performance a fluke but just know that when setting your roster this week. I think Brown could be an alright flex play but Houston is coming off a loss where Carolina ran all over them – they are not that bad at stopping the run and I feel they will be motivated to shut down the Colts offense.
If you are lucky enough to be in the championship with AP putting a dud of a game last week (the Gerhart two receiving touchdowns was a dagger to the heart) you still have to start him this week. He is a Hall of Fame running back and can always have a monster game. On a side note he has said he is going to show up this week for his fantasy owners. (have to love it when a player knows where he true fans lie)
The Rams have been terrible at stopping the run all year long and the Steelers clearly needed to sit Big Ben on Monday Night has he could barely move. Regardless if Ben plays or not this week I believe the Steelers run the ball a ton as the Rams are dead last vs the run giving up over 150 yards per game. Mendenhall is a top ten start and should not only have a big day rushing the ball but find the endzone at least once this week. As an update he is a little banged up and if the Steelers decide to rest him Redman becomes that top ten play this week.
The Titans have said they will stick with Hasselbeck which is not the best news for Washington as Locker certainly favored him. With that said this match-up is too great not to get Washington into your line-up. Since Jacksonville lost three of their top players in the secondary a couple of weeks ago they have not been able to even come close to stopping anyone in the air. Washington has emerged as the clear cut number one option for the Titans (sorry Dustin I know you love you some Williams) and should have another solid day for your fantasy team.
The New England Patriots are last in terms of stopping the pass statistically speaking this season so putting a stud like Brandon Marshall in your line-up is something that you have to do this week. Marshall is the top receiving option for the Fins and is one of the most targeted receivers in football. Based on these facts and the match-up Marshall could certainly help you win your championship.
I absolutely love this rookie and have written for a while now that he is match-up proof but this week I am writing about him since he is a little banged up. If Green plays for Cincy he should play for you. Last week he separated his shoulder but everything thus far is looking really good for him to start and due to how amazing he has been and how much Cincy needs a win I think he has to make your line-up.
Romo has been on fire as of late and unless you got one of the top top guys I think you have to keep him in your line-up. I have already seen a question that has an owner worrying about the Eagles secondary – well this isn’t the preseason anymore and clearly the Eagles are not the best secondary in the league so start Mr. Romo.
This is going to be a shoot-out, plain and simple, and it is good to have quarterbacks that is a part of a shootout. Plus Rivers has been Mr. December again and playing his best football of the year in the last few weeks. Since they are playing in a dome that only helps the situation. I expect both teams to throw quite a bit and score plenty of points in this match-up.
Alright I admit it, Cam is the rookie of the year (I was hoping Dalton would come thru here but it is not even close) This is the most impressive rookie QB fantasy season I have ever seen and I think he ends on a high note this week. The Bucs have packed it in and Cam should be able to take advantage of it. All year they have put up fantasy numbers being top 7 in total yards and top 10 in total points scored, this week Cam will end on a high note.
I know Finley has been frustrating beyond belief but the big question when Jennings went down was who is going to see all of those targets. The short answer is Finley, last week he was targeted 10 times and had a decent game, of course he dropped a ton of balls but that is what he has done all year. I think Rodgers will continue to look his way so if you made it to the finals with Finley on your team now is not the time to get cute and pick-up a hot hand like Jared Cook to replace him.
It is a must win game for Cincy and their defense has been solid all year long. Zona has been winning but they have not been blowing anyone out and the Bengals are going to be the toughest defense they have faced in a while. At this point if you have a stud defense you have to run with them but, if you have been playing the match-up game, going with a team that needs a win is not the worst thing you can do. (plus they have played better at home this year)
