This young pitcher has been very impressive this year. He has had a quality start in 6 of his last 7 outings, which is amazing for a 23 year old pitcher. We really like his upside and we say pick him up know before someone else does. (about 60% owned)
Cueto has been pitching really well over his last 4 starts, and it might be time to pick him up. He has had a quality start in each of those 4 games, he also recored 3 wins and had good strikeout totals. At the very least Cueto should be put back on your radar for potential pitchers to pick up. We talked about Buck a little while back thinking he could be a decent temporary fix if you had an injured catcher, but it looks like Buck might be here to stay. We don’t think his numbers are going to blow you away, but we wouldn’t be shocked if he ends the season as a top 10 catcher. (about 50% owned)
Manager Joe Madden has had nothing but great things to say about his rookie catcher and for good reason. He is batting .328 and has 18 RBI’s in just 67 AB’s so far this year. We doubt he will keep up this pace, but anytime a catcher is batting over .300 it is worth taking note. (about 10% owned)
What has gotten into Ortiz lately? He looks like the Ortiz of old with 8 HR’s and 21 RBI’s in the month of May. Ortiz has battled injuries over the last couple years, but he appears to be healthy. We see no reason why you shouldn’t pick up Ortiz, if he stays healthy he could keep up these numbers. (about 70% owned)
Ross has huge breakout potential this year but after a slow start a lot of people had written him off. However, he has been playing amazing so for this May. He is batting over .350 with some speed and decent power. Ross is definitely worth an add in most leagues but at the very least add him to your watch list. (about 35% owned)
Stubbs was one of our favorite late round sleepers coming into this year, (or in Brent’s case mid-round sleeper) but he didn’t exactly get off to the best start. He was dropped in almost all leagues, but it might be time to pick him back up. He has been batting for a better average and throwing in a little power in there as well. If Stubbs can get his average up closer to .300 he could be a great speed specialist. (about 15% owned)
Young is having a sneaky good year so far. He already has 36 RBI’s, decent HR and steal totals, and he is batting .300. We think Young should be owned in all leagues at this point. (about 75% owned)
