Each week our Fantasy Baseball experts will give fantasy owners their top choices for players to pick up for all leagues, as well as some players to consider in deeper leagues. If you have any Fantasy Baseball questions for our experts feel free to post them in post them in our Fantasy Sports Forum.
It doesn’t seem like anyone wants the closer job out in Arizona. Qualls is out, and Heilman has been far from impressive. Vasquez could be the next guy to get a shot, and could be worth an add in deeper leagues. (about 5% owned)
We were surprised how many leagues Axford was still available in. His ERA isn’t amazing but he should get a lot of save chances. We think Axford has a good upside, and he should be owned in almost all leagues at this point. (about 45% owned)
Putz has been one of the hottest relief pitchers in the league in the last 6 weeks, and he could find himself in the closer role very soon. With Jenks having his ups and downs and Thornton hitting a few bumps in the road, Putz could get a shot. (about 10% owned)
Cahill has had a quality start in 8 of his last 9 outings, and is putting together a great season. He is a young pitcher with upside, and could be worth an add. His K’s per innings pitched isn’t that great, but we still think he could have value for the rest of the season. (about 40% owned)
After a terrible ’09 season Quentin is trying to have a bounce back year. He has found his power stroke over the last month, hitting 8 HR’s so far in June. His average could still use some work, but he does have the potential of keeping up these power numbers. (about 60% owned)
Jones has been on fire lately and it looks like he might be onto something big. We know Jones has a big upside, and over the last month he has reminded us what he is capable of. So far this June he has 7 HR’s and is batting over .300. If he is available in your league we say pick him up now. (about 75% owned)
There are been a lot of hype around this rookie catcher and for good reason. He has really taken advantage of his playing time, and he is starting to get peoples attention. We like his upside but he is a rookie after all. Don’t be surprised if he has some low spots this season, but if you need a catcher he could be worth an add. (about 55% owned)
Chipper is starting to show some signs of maybe breaking out of this slump. He is batting over .300 in the last week, and we think Jones might still have a little left in the tank. He has been dropped in a lot of leagues but if you need help at third it might be time to pick him back up. (about 60% owned)
Jones could be on the verge of a break out season. He is proving he can bat for average and power, and he even throws in a few stolen bases. With the added bonus of dual position eligibility we think Jones has a lot of things going for him. (about 60% owned)
Sanchez is another youngster with upside that is starting to get picked up in some leagues. He has a big upside and he has put together an amazing June. He is batting .368 with 4 HR’s so far this month, and at the very least he is worth keeping a close eye on. (about 20% owned)
