Our weekly fantasy football waiver wire takes a look at the top pickups for Week 12 of the NFL season. Many of these players are still available in a majority of leagues and could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster. Others might be worth stashing on your bench or are simply just players to add to your watch list.

Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor BUF | QB

The last few weeks have been rather tumultuous for the Buffalo Bills. After allowing 298 rushing yards to the Saints in Week 10, Head Coach Sean McDermott inexplicably announced Nathan Peterman would draw the start over Tyrod Taylor for Week 11’s game against the Chargers. That decision couldn’t have backfired more, as the rookie quarterback threw an unbelievable five interceptions in the first half, leading to Taylor’s insertion back into the lineup. Coming on in garbage time, Taylor posted solid numbers completing 15 of 25 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown. He added another touchdown on the ground in the Bills 54-24 loss in Los Angeles. While McDermott has indicated he’s unsure who will start for Week 12’s tilt against the Chiefs, fantasy owners should rest assured it’ll be Taylor at the helm again, sooner rather than later. While Taylor hasn’t been an elite option for fantasy owners this season, he still deserves roster consideration for quarterback-savvy owners. (about 40% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Jacoby Brissett IND | QB

There’s no doubt the Indianapolis Colts have failed at adequately managing their season, beginning and ending with how they handled Andrew Luck’s timetable for a return from injury. That said, the most savvy move the team made this season was acquiring Jacoby Brissett from the Patriots in exchange for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett. The NC State product has more than held his own this season while filling in for Luck. Coming off the bye week, Brissett is still awaiting clearance from the league’s concussion protocol, but is fully expected to suit-up when the Colts host the Titans on Sunday. With Brissett averaging approximately 15 fantasy points this season, he’ll have a fantastic opportunity to post something closer to 20 this weekend against the Titans 21st-ranked pass defense. Fantasy owners will want to monitor his status leading up to game time, but Brissett will be an elite Week 12 streamer. (about 17% owned) Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Running Backs

Samaje Perine WAS | RB

The Washington Redskins have struggled to find consistency from their featured back since the days of Alfred Morris in the Washington backfield. With Matt Jones long gone and Chris Thompson and Rob Kelley landing on injured reserve, the backfield now belongs to rookie Samaje Perine. The former Oklahoma Sooner is coming off a career game in New Orleans, running for 117 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. The Redskins have been decimated by injuries across their roster this season and fantasy owners can expect a prominent role from Perine for the rest of the season. The team added passing-back Byron Marshall to the active roster in wake of Thompson’s injury, but he won’t be much of a threat to Perine’s workload. Look for Perine to tote it close to 20 times on Thursday Night’s Thanksgiving game as he’ll be a priority add for fantasy owners this week.

Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Damien Williams MIA | RB

When the Dolphins shipped running back Jay Ajayi to the Eagles, Kenyan Drake was looking like the next man up in the Miami pecking order. With Ajayi gone, Drake has been a mixed bag, coming off a miserable seven carries for four yards in last week’s loss to the Buccaneers. Damien Williams was the much more effective back last week, rushing for 78 yards on 10 carries. This week, Williams is a candidate to see the majority of the carries against a Patriots defense ranked 24th against the run. With Miami’s passing attack continuing to bottom out and Tom Brady on the other sideline, look for the ‘Fins to establish Williams and the running game early in Week 12. He’ll be well worth a speculative add on this week’s waiver wire and could be a valuable asset down the stretch. (about 35% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Wide Receivers

Josh Doctson WAS | WR

When the Washington Redskins signed Terrelle Pryor as a free agent in the offseason, the team had lofty expectations for how it would play out. After placing Pryor on season-ending I.R. on Monday, it’s safe to say his season was a significant disappointment. Kirk Cousins and the offense will now lean heavily on second-year receiver Josh Doctson. With Jordan Reed still battling a hamstring injury, fantasy owners can expect Doctson to dominate the target share in the passing game. He should be viewed as one of the top waiver wire additions heading into Week 12. (about 28% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Tight Ends

Adam Shaheen CHI | TE

With the Chicago Bears continuing to mold an identity on the offensive side of the ball, Head Coach John Fox has started to look for production from different places. Rookie Tight End Adam Shaheen delivered on that sentiment last week, hauling in four receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Lions. Well this week projects to be an extremely difficult matchup against the league best Philadelphia Eagles, look for quarterback Mitch Trubisky to continue to target the rookie in an effort for the team to gauge what they have moving forward. Shaheen will be a back-end TE for this week’s tilt in the city of brotherly love.

Defenses

Cincinnati Bengals CIN | DEF

One adage that has proved to be true throughout the course of the 2017 fantasy football season is to target the Cleveland Browns with your defensive streaming options. The winless Browns have yet to let us down and should have no problem to keep that streak alive this week at Cincinnati. The Bengals are coming off a solid effort last week in Denver and will be licking their chops to return home against Deshone Kizer and an incompetent Browns offense. (about 43% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added as Week 12 streamer option
