You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout I’m telling you why…these DraftKings fantasy picks are coming to town. The NFL playoffs loom and just in time for a visit from St. Nick and Fantasy Smack Talk experts. If you are looking for a fantasy football present, then take a look at the following Week 16 DraftKings Value Picks in your lineup:
Sometimes the best presents don’t come in small packages. Cam Newton will look to barrel his 6’5” frame past the Falcons’ beleaguered defense at home in Charlotte. While the Falcon’s defense has been tough on opposing offenses the last couple weeks, those games were against the woeful Rams and 49ers. Newton should have his way in this division rivalry and expect a running touchdown as well for him in this one.
If you are looking for a true sleeper at the QB position look no further than the Titans. Mariota is coming off a couple of less than stellar games, but it’s all about the matchup against the Jaguars this week. Coming off the firing of their coach, Jacksonville does not have much else to play for this season. Tennessee is very much in the playoff conversation and Mariota has streamed together some big time performances this season. I’m expecting one this week as well, just in time to Christmas.
The best running back in fantasy football that nobody seems to know much about is Jordan Howard. This former Hoosiers tailback should be able to get north-to-south against a banged up Redskins defense. The 29 year-old Jonathan Stewart carved up the Washington defense on Monday Night Football and expect the 22 year-old Howard to do the same.
The touchdown dependent Blount has been locked in on the end zone to the tune of a Patriots franchise record of 18 touchdowns this season. The Jets have mailed in their season a long time ago and while this matchup is typically a physical affair, expect Coach Belichick to pound the rock all day. Blount should be able to sniff the end zone multiple times in this juicy Christmas eve matchup.
Steve Smith Sr.
This wily veteran wideout has always made a name for himself in the big games. This clash on Christmas should be no different. The Steelers and Ravens are vying for the AFC North division title and Smith is Flacco’s go to in the clutch. Expect a touchdown and chunks of yardage against this beatable defense.
Lockett exploded against the Rams last week and should have that same opportunity against the Cardinals, opposite from the dangerous Patrick Patterson. Baldwin will probably draw Arizona’s most talented cornerback, leaving the other side open for Lockett to take advantage downfield. I like the odds of Wilson to Lockett for 50+ yard touchdown bomb in this one for the Seahawks.
The best way to beat the Redskins defense is third down and passing plays. Chicago is not a high-flying offense but it is capable of putting air under the ball and the Redskins have been willing recipients of many long passing plays this year. Meredith will probably be covered by CB Breeland most of the game, which should be good news for this wideout.
No reason to hate on Brate this week. He’s been on fire for much of the last six weeks this season. New Orleans gives up points in the passing game in bunches and Jameis is making Brate a household name for fantasy players next year. Between Brate and Evans the Bucs have a couple of good young targets to make the Saints pay in what is expected to be a shootout.
Big Ben loves to find his tight end in physical games like this one against division rival Baltimore. The Steelers have a knack for involving Green in the red zone and the Ravens are more stout against the run than the pass. I would trust Green as a sleeper pick to play this week in what could be a low scoring Christmas slugfest. If there’s a way to beat Baltimore up the middle it will be with Green.
The matchup is key in picking the D/ST for the week. Insert Savage at quarterback for the mighty Houston Texans. Unproven and young, this matchup screams turnovers and a low-scoring game. The Bengals are playing for pride, but they’ve shown tremendous fight down the stretch and Marvin Lewis’ team does not give up points easily. I like the odds of Savage coming crashing back to earth after his fill-in performance last week. Bengals on the prowl!
