Our weekly waiver wire takes a look at the top pickups for Week 8 of the NFL season. Many of these players are still available in a majority of leagues and could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster. Others might be worth stashing on your bench, or are simply just players to add to your watch list. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Running Backs

Ronnie Hillman DEN | RB

I understand why Hillman wasn’t picked up heading into Week 6, but after his 100+ yards performance there is no excuse for why he wasn’t picked up after Week 6. Monte Ball is in real danger of not getting his starting job back once he returns and this could mean big things for Hillman. If he is still available in your league then you need to do whatever it takes to get him on your team. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Denard Robinson JAX | WR/RB

It was announced right before kickoff that Robinson was going to be the starter and most people didn’t know what to do with the news. Hopefully you took the gamble and snatched him up before the game, but if you didn’t you need to try to get this guy on your team. The former college quarterback is a freak of an athlete and he should have a big role for the Jaguars for the rest of the season. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Tre Mason STL | RB

The Rams eased their rookie running back into game action this season and at this point it looks like they are ready to unleash him. He has looked great with the touches he has had so far this year and he is clearly their best runner. This isn’t a fluke either, Mason was in consideration for the Heisman last year and this youngster has a bright future. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Anthony Dixon BUF | RB

Dixon was the only running back left standing Week 7 for the Bills and it looks like he could be the guy to own for them moving forward. C.J. Spiller is out for the year and Fred Jackson should miss about a month, so Dixon should have somewhat long term value. It’s yet to be seen how much Bryce Brown will factor in, but out of the two I think Dixon is the safer pickup and Brown has the higher ceiling. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Bryce Brown BUF | RB

It’s hard to know for sure which Bills running back should be picked up after the Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller injuries, but I think Brown has the bigger overall upside. Even though Brown was inactive Week 7, he still has more fantasy potential than Anthony Dixon. Either way he needs to be picked up in all leagues until this situation shakes itself out. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Jonathan Stewart CAR | RB

At this point in his career Stewart isn’t all that exciting, but he is still a starting running back in the NFL. For that reason he needs to be added in more leagues and he will offer some value from week to week. I would suggest trying to add him to your bench, just don’t use any type of good waiver number to get him. (about 40% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Devonta Freeman ATL | RB

The mess that is the Falcons running back situation continues and it’s really starting to get frustrating trying to figure this one out. Right when it looks like Antone Smith is the guy to own, then here comes Freeman back into the mix. If you have a roster spot and you are looking for a high upside bench player then I love the idea of adding Freeman. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Wide Receivers

Odell Beckham Jr. NYG | WR

If you passed on picking up Beckham last week then I am sure you are kicking yourself. He should have been picked up in all leagues after the Victor Cruz injury, but I guess people weren’t believing in this kids potential. After his two touchdown performance Week 7 though he will be picked up in the remainder of all fantasy leagues. He is the real deal and could be great for many years to come. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Doug Baldwin SEA | WR

The void left by Percy Harvin has to be filled by someone, and that person looks to be Baldwin. He had 11 targets Week 7 and it’s clear that he is now the #1 receiver for the Seahawks. I think his numbers were slightly inflated because they were playing from behind the whole game, so don’t completely buy into this numbers. However, with all that being said I still think Baldwin makes sense as an add in all leagues since he should be consistently involved in the Hawks offense. (about 25% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Jermaine Kearse SEA | WR

I think Doug Baldwin is the clear winner with Percy Harvin getting shipped out of town, but Kearse should see a bump as well. The 3rd year receiver is on pace for a career year and I think Kearse has a good chance at being relevant for the rest of the way. If you are desperate for a receiver in a deeper league then I don’t mind him as an add. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Davante Adams GB | WR

When it comes to overall upside for receivers that currently don’t spent much time on the field, then I think Adams could be at the top of that list. This rookie has looked great in limited action and if Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb get injured then I think Adams could be a top 20 receiver. He is only worth owning in deeper leagues, but go ahead and snag him if you are looking for a high upside bench receiver. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Quarterbacks

Geno Smith NYJ | QB

Geno has certainly had his ups and downs this year, but the addition of Percy Harvin could be the boost that the Jets offense needed. Even though they have been a bit of a mess, they have many solid weapons on that offense. I think Geno could be in line for a solid second half of the season and I think he is certainly worth a look in deeper leagues. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Colt McCoy WAS | QB

McCoy took over as the signal caller for the Redskins about half way through the game Week 7 and he lead the Skins to their second win of the season. It’s too early to start saying that McCoy win the starting job outright even once RGIII comes back, but this is somewhat of an audition for him. If he continues to win then it’s going to be hard for the Skins to go back to the fragile RGIII. McCoy is only worth a look in deeper two quarterback leagues, but I still wanted to mention him. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Tight End

Jordan Reed WAS | TE

If Reed stays healthy for the rest of the year then he will end the season as a top ten tight end, it’s as simple as that. Reed is an extremely talented player, he just can’t seem to stay out on the field. Even though he is injury prone though he needs to be picked up in all leagues just in case he is able to stay healthy for the rest of the way. (about 75% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Defenses

Philadelphia PHI | DEF

The Eagles had a bye Week 7 and their defense was dropped in a decent amount of leagues because of this. The Eagles have the best fantasy defense so far this year and I don’t think it’s a fluke. I fully expect them to continue their success Week 8 even though they have somewhat of a tough matchup against the Cardinals. (about 70% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Miami MIA | DEF

The Dolphins have looked solid on the defensive side of the ball and it’s their turn to play the Jags coming up in Week 8. It’s on the road, but I still like there chances of putting up some fantasy points against one of the worst offenses in the league. There are available in most leagues and I think they are a great pickup and play this week. (about 20% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play
