Our weekly waiver wire takes a look at the top pickups for Week 6 of the NFL season. Many of these players are still available in a majority of leagues and could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster. Others might be worth stashing on your bench, or are simply just players to add to your watch list. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Running Backs

Ronnie Hillman DEN | RB

The terrible fantasy season for Montee Ball continues. Not only did he get hurt Week 5, but it happened early in the game so he left his fantasy owners with only a few points. Hillman is next in line for the Broncos and he could have huge short term value. As of now it appears that the Ball injury will be a multi week deal, this makes Hillman a must add in all formats. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Justin Forsett BAL | RB

The three headed monster attack continues for the Ravens at running back and it’s turning into a nightmare for fantasy owners. Forsett to this point has been the most consistent out of the three and he appears to be the one to own. I still like Lorenzo Taliaferro a bit more long term, but for now Forsett is the only guy worth starting. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Branden Oliver SD | RB

I talked about Oliver last week as a guy that needed to be owned in more leagues and after his Week 5 performance he is going to be one of the hottest pickups. Donald Brown got injured and this forced the Chargers to look elsewhere and Oliver was up to the task. Oliver is going to fill the void left by Danny Woodhead and I think he has solid value for the rest of the season. Even once Ryan Mathews returns I think Oliver will have a big role in the Chargers offense each week. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Andre Williams NYG | RB

Rashad Jennings got banged up Week 5 and Williams had a chance for a few more carries. Williams has looked decent so far this year with limited action and if he gets a chance to start he could be a top 20 fantasy running back. He needs to be owned in all leagues because of his overall upside and the fragile nature of Jennings. (about 25% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Benny Cunningham STL | RB

We knew coming into the season that Cunningham was nipping at the heels of Zac Stacy for the starting job, but Stacy was able to fend him off. With Stacy getting injured Week 5 though, this is going to potentially open the door for Cunningham to close the gap. This is a situation that needs to be monitored closely this week and Cunningham could be a decent short term solution if Stacy misses any time. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Storm Johnson JAX | RB

The Jags running game has been terrible so far this year and Johnson could be the spark that they need to get it going. The 2014 7th round draft pick for Jacksonville got his first game action Week 5 and he looked impressive in limited touches. Toby Gerhart has been terrible, Jordan Todman is nothing more than a change of pace back, and Denard Robinson is built more like a change of pace back as well. It’s possible that Johnson ends up making the most sense for the Jags at running back and I think he is worth a look in deeper leagues. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Devonta Freeman ATL | RB

Right when it looks like Antone Smith is the handcuff to own in Atlanta, here comes Freeman storming back into the mix. Freeman looked good in limited touches Week 5 and it’s anyone’s guess what will happen moving forward. If I had to pick between Freeman and Smith then I would go with Smith, but I think both of these high upside running backs need to be rostered in deeper leagues. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Antone Smith ATL | RB

Smith has had three solid games in a row, but his touches have been extremely limited. It’s anyone’s guess at this point if he or Freeman should be owned as the handcuff for Steven Jackson and this situation is turning into a mess. I still think Smith would be the guy to own if Jackson were to get hurt though and I currently own him in all five of my leagues. The Falcons would be stupid not to give this youngster more touches. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Juwan Thompson DEN | RB

All signs are pointing to Ronnie Hillman as the guy to own while Montee Ball is out with injury, but it’s possible that Thompson could see an increased workload as well. Hillman isn’t the biggest running back in the league and the Broncos might not give him a full workload. Even if Hillman gets the majority of the carries, I would be surprised if Thompson doesn’t get the goal line carries. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Wide Receivers

Brian Quick STL | WR

Ok fantasy world, it’s time. It’s time to admit to yourselves that Brian Quick is good and is worth owning on your fantasy team. The fact that Quick is still available in about half of all leagues is a joke and you need to pick this guy up. The Rams will be playing from behind for most of the year and Quick is one of their only reliable weapons on offense. (about 55% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Odell Beckham Jr. NYG | WR

Beckham Jr. is going to be one of the most added players this week and for good reason. The Giants first round pick has been hurt for the beginning part of the season, but he is now healthy and he looked great Week 5. His role should continue to increase as he gets more comfortable in the Giants offense and he could have WR3/WR4 value for the rest of the season. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Justin Hunter TEN | WR

Hunter has a huge overall upside, but it’s more about his talent than his situation. He is a talented receiver in a terrible situation and even though he has a sub par quarterback I still think he is worth a look. It’s possible that Hunter is the most talented receiver on the Titans and they need to find a way to get this young superstar the ball. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Quarterbacks

Austin Davis STL | QB

Davis has been impressive so far this year and he could have value in some leagues moving forward. The Rams aren’t that great, so I expect them to be playing from behind for most of the season. This means a lot of second half passing yards for Davis and there are just enough weapons on the Rams offense to make Davis an interesting add. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Carson Palmer ARI | QB

The frustrating nerve issue that Palmer has been dealing with appears to almost be healed and he could be worth starting if he can play Week 6. The Cardinals have plenty of weapons and a healthy Carson Palmer is going to make that a scary offense. If you have had your eye on Palmer waiting for him to get healthy, then now is the time to pick him up. (about 35% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Defenses

Philadelphia PHI | DEF

The Eagles defense has been a touchdown machine the last couple of weeks and there is a good chance that continues Week 6 against the Giants. I know Eli Manning has looked better as of late, but I still love the Eagles chances of forcing a couple turnovers. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Arizona ARI | DEF

The Cardinals D was dropped in a good amount of leagues before their Week 5 matchup against the Broncos. That was a good move since they scored negative points Week 5, but it’s time to pick them back up with matchups against the Redskins and Raiders with their next two matchups. They could easily be a top 10 defense over the next two weeks. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues
