If you are new to a salary cap format, here are the basics. You get a fake budget to spend on your players/team. Your weekly lineup strategy is completely up to you. You can target a group of medium-priced players, or play some higher-priced studs mixed with lower-priced value plays. All you need to do is stay under the salary cap.
You’ll need to save money on at least a couple of positions if you want to roll with any high-priced studs in your lineup. With that in mind, here are some FanDuel value picks for Week 11 that I like (based on a $60k budget; sorted by position and price).
Robert Griffin III
Facing off against the 2nd worst team against the pass this week, there is plenty of upside for Griffin. Considering his strong receiving corps and rushing numbers, Griffin has good upside this week. I’m viewing Griffin as a risk/reward play as he’s lacked consistency in his past.
For a value pick, I like Sanchez this week. He is playing on the road, but I expect the Packers to put up a good amount of points in this matchup. Sanchez could rack up extra catch-up and late game numbers this week. Sanchez is the 22nd priced QB at FanDuel for Week 11.
If Ronnie Hillman is out, I like C.J. Anderson for value with plenty of upside. Montee Ball ($6,700) is expected to return also, which could create a dreaded committee, but I like Anderson’s chances to own a majority of the workload and also late game mop up time. If Anderson gets the start, he could put up RB1 numbers again this week.
Adrian Peterson isn’t back yet. I’d look for McKinnon to have a full workload this week, minus goal line duties. If you’re looking cheap RB2 play, McKinnon may suit your needs. McKinnon has upside, but his big value is the savings he provides for upgrades into your lineup.
Injury Watch – Alfred Blue ($6,400) and Jeremy Hill ($6,500) could start this week. Early news is their counterparts will return, but I like both Alfred Blue and Jeremy Hill if they start this week.
The Panthers are a mess, but you can count on Benjamin to be forced a good amount of targets again this week. Going against an Atlanta team that is currently the worst in the league against the pass, Kelvin Benjamin offers up both value and upside.
It’s up in the air how consistent Jordan Matthews will be with Sanchez at QB, but he had breakout numbers last week. For a cheap WR3 play, you could do a lot worst than a bit of gamble on Matthews. With Maclin drawing tougher coverage, Matthews could continue to be very relevant.
I’m expecting a full rebound from the Chargers this week. Playing at home and against Oakland, there could be plenty of numbers to go around. Gates has found the end zone in 4 of his last 5 games.
The Raiders played the Chargers earlier this season and lost a 31-28 game. This time they’re playing on the road and it’s very likely the Chargers put up similar numbers. I like Rivera to rack up catch-up and late game numbers again this week.
Playing at home and against a Buffalo team that has struggled, I like the Dolphins for my top DST play for Week 11. With Brent Grimes facing off against Sammy Watkins, the Bills may be in for a slower day. Only Philadelphia’s D/ST has averaged more points than Miami this season.
The Browns secondary is pretty strong and facing Ryan Mallet, the newly appointed starter for the Texans. The Browns are poor against the run, but they should be heavily stacked against the run and challenging Mallet to throw this week.
Punting on 3rd Down
Care to Take the Punting on 3rd Down Challenge?
The FanDuel Week 11 punting challenge will be with Drew Stanton ($5,900). The challenge is to play a $1.00 game with Drew Stanton at QB. I’ll be posting my punting lineup in the forum later this week. Highest score wins bragging rights as the Week 11 Champion!
