Each week during the NFL season FST brings you our Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups, which breaks down players available in many leagues that could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster, or simply just players to keep on your radar. Let’s take a look at some of the hottest pickups at each position heading into Week 8 of the NFL season. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Quarterbacks

Case Keenum HOU | QB

With all of the recent quarterback injuries this has given a lot of other quarterbacks a chance to start. Out of all of them I think Keenum might have the highest ceiling. Not because I think he is the best quarterback out of the bunch, but I think he is in the best situation. He has a ton of talent around him and if he is able to take over the starting job he could have solid value for the rest of the season. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Keep an eye on

Josh McCown CHI | QB

McCown looked pretty good in relief of Cutler after he went down with injury and I think he is worth a look if you are desperate for a QB in deeper leagues. It looks like Cutler could miss significant time and McCown could have some success since the Bears have so many offensive weapons. He was playing the Redskins week 7 so you can’t look too far into the numbers, but I still think he does have some upside while Cutler is out. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Running Backs

Zac Stacy STL | RB

It’s still shocking to me that more people didn’t pick up Stacy before his game week 7. Now if you want him you are going to have to fight everyone else to try to claim him off of waivers. Stacy touched the ball over 20 times and he was able to find the end zone as well. Another reason I really like Stacy is because they used him in the passing game as well. So he has a good chance of being on the field if they are playing with a lead or from behind. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Ben Tate HOU | RB

The Texans are heading into their bye week 8 and it couldn’t be better timing for Arian Foster. He hurt his hamstring week 7 and until we know the extent of the injury Tate needs to be owned in all leagues. Tate also got hurt week 7 with some broken ribs, but as weird as it sounds I think Tate has a better chance of playing week 8 than Foster. Until this situation is worked out Tate needs to be owned in all leagues. (about 60% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Mike James TB | RB

With Martin likely done for the year it looks like James is going to be the man for the Bucs. Considering all of the struggles that Martin has had I am not expecting a ton from James. However, he is a starting running back and he should get a lot of touches. I think he is worthy of the #1 waiver though just because of the touches he is going to get each week. (about 10% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Jacquizz Rodgers ATL | RB

With the Jackson injury lingering I think Rodgers could continue to have some value. He played great week 7 and he has clearly emerged as the running back to own in Atlanta if Jackson remains sidelined. He got a decent amount of carries and they love him in the passing game. Keep a close eye on the reports on Jackson because Rodgers could be a decent spot start week 8 if Jackson needs another week to heal. (about 55% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Roy Helu Jr. WAS | RB

Helu Jr. was the biggest surprise of week 7 and just proves that he would have huge value if Morris gets hurt. He only had 11 carries but he was able to find the end zone 3 times and the Redskins offense looked solid against a good defense. He will have some value even if Morris stays healthy, but Helu Jr. continues to be one of the best handcuffs in the league. (about 25% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Peyton Hillis NYG | RB

I never thought I would be writing about Hillis for one of these posts again, but he played well against the Vikings week 7. If Jacobs misses extended time then Hillis could have decent short term value. Obviously at this point in his career his upside is limited, so keep that in mind when deciding about picking him up. However, he could be a decent spot start next week if you are in a bind. (about 15% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Wide Receivers

Percy Harvin SEA | WR

The reports on Harvin have all been positive and there seems to be a legitimate chance that he plays week 8. I would actually be surprised if he does play next week, but at this point it seems he is only a week or two away from taking the field. If for some reason he is still available in your league then you need to snag him now. (about 65% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Rueben Randle NYG | WR

Randle has looked great over the last few weeks and I really think he is a star in the making. The Giants are going to continue to increase his targets and I really like his chances moving forward. Nicks hasn’t looked that great this year and I think he is going to start losing targets to the younger more exciting Randle. (about 70% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in all leagues

Darrius Heyward-Bey IND | WR

With Reggie Wayne out for the year this is going to open the door for Heyward-Bey to get more targets. The Colts offense is going to throw a decent amount and they should score a lot of points this year. This makes Heyward-Bey an interesting add in deeper leagues. I don’t think Heyward-Bey will completely fill the shoes of Wayne, but the former first round pick should see a nice boost in value. (about 20% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Harry Douglas ATL | WR

With the top two Falcons receivers out week 7 this opened the door for Douglas and he took full advantage. I have never been a huge fan of Harry Douglas, but someone has to catch the ball for the Falcons. Until Roddy White is completely healthy I think Douglas is a nice add in deeper leagues. (about 50% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Jarrett Boykin GB | WR

There were a lot of question marks with Boykin heading into week 7, but he answered a lot of them with over 100 yards and a touchdown. The Packers are now dealing with an injured Finley, leaving Boykin one of the only healthy targets left for Aaron Rodgers. Even if James Jones comes back next week I think Boykin still has a big upside moving forward. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Tight Ends

Jordan Reed WAS | TE

The Redskins rookie tight end has be great so far this year and he had a monster game week 7. I have never been a fan of rookie tight ends, but Reed is someone that we need to pay attention to. It seems that the Redskins are done with Fred Davis and at this point Reed has a solid overall upside. If you need help at TE then I think it’s worth taking a gamble on Reed. (about 5% owned)
Recommendation: Should be added in deeper leagues

Defense/Special Teams

New Orleans NO | DEF

The Bills looked decent on the road week 7 against the Dolphins, but I don’t like their chances week 8 against the Saints. The Saints D has been solid so far this year when it comes to fantasy points and I think they should be able force a decent amount of turnovers. New Orleans should be playing with a lead and I expect the Bills young QB will probably make a mistake or two. (about 20% owned)
Recommendation: Worth a look as a pickup and play
