If you haven’t played in a salary cap format before, here are the basics. Each player has a salary, and you get a fake budget to spend on your team. With your weekly lineup strategy, it’s completely up to you. You can target a group of medium priced players, or play some higher priced studs mixed with value plays. All you need to do is stay under the salary cap. I typically load up on a few stud players, medium valued upside picks, and then gamble on a couple bargain priced or risk/reward players. Here are some value picks I like for Week 16 (based on a $60k budget; sorted by position and price).

Quarterbacks

Kirk Cousins vs DAL ($7,000) – Cousins draws an excellent matchup this week. Considering Dallas made Josh McCown and Matt Flynn look great, I like the chances for Cousins to out-perform his price this week.

Matt Schaub vs DEN ($6,500) – With Case Keenum dealing with a thumb injury, there is a good shot that Schaub lands his old starting role again. It’s a matchup that could keep Schaub throwing plenty while playing catch-up against Denver. He’s a low priced gambler’s delight, but a bit more risk than I like considering his struggles this season.

Running Backs

Jordan Todman vs TEN ($5,800) – If MJD is out again this week, Todman could be a solid value play against a Titans team that has been weak against the run. I like that Todman also is active in the passing game.

Bobby Rainey vs STL ($5,700) – Rainey has been a bit hit or miss, but his misses have come against strong run defenses. Rainey has a good shot at being productive this week against an average run defense.

Wide Receivers

Jordy Nelson vs PIT ($6,500) – If Aaron Rodgers is back, Jordy Nelson could be a steal at this price.

Andre Caldwell @HOU ($5,000) – If Wes Welker is out again, I like Andre Caldwell for a bargain basement play. He may be a bit hit or miss with all the receiving options for Peyton Manning, but Caldwell filled in well for Welker last week.

Tight Ends

Delanie Walker @JAX ($5,200) – It’s a nice matchup against a Jacksonville team that is among the worst against TEs. With Ryan Fitpatrick at the helm, Walker should get plenty of check-down targets yet again this week.

Martellus Bennett @PHI ($4,800) – With defenses keyed in on Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, Bennett could be a good value play again this week.

Defense/Special Teams

Miami Dolphins @BUF ($5,100) – for a bargain basement defense, the Dolphins could be a decent value play. They’re the strongest defense out the cheap options and could do well in their matchup.

My first thoughts for my own lineup this week is I’ll continue staying cheap at QB. I’ll most likely be playing a Kirk Cousins and Delanie Welker combo again this week. I’ll use the savings for an upgrade at defense and my WRs.

Alright FST Community, I’d love to hear who YOU love (or hate) this week. Post your FanDuel stud, dud or value plays in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Good luck!
