Each week during the NFL season FST brings you our Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups, which breaks down players available in many leagues that could have an immediate impact on your fantasy roster, or simply just players to keep on your radar. Let’s take a look at some players that might be worthy of scooping off the waiver wire heading into Week 5. If you have any waiver wire questions, feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Add in all Leagues

Rashard Mendenhall PIT | RB

The fact that people aren’t picking up Mendenhall is shocking to me. I would love to know who is on these peoples benches in the 35% of leagues that he is still available in, because I am sure a lot of those teams could make room for him. True there are a lot of question marks around him, but it’s not very often when you can just pick up a guy that might offer first round talent. (about 65% owned)

Brian Hartline MIA | WR

I debated putting Hartline in the must adds in all leagues, but at the end of the day I couldn’t bring myself to say he is only worth adding in deeper leagues. What he did in week 4 was absolutely amazing, and while I expect him to be inconsistent he is still worth an add. Hartline carries a lot more value in PPR leagues, but I think he is worth an add in standard leagues as well. (about 20% owned)

Andy Dalton CIN | QB

After a mediocre week 1 Dalton has been amazing, he has 8 TDs in the last 3 games and he has thrown in a rushing TD as well. With a matchup against the Dolphins week 5 I think he is a great start. If you aren’t happy with your QB1 or you have bye week issues, then I would strongly suggest picking up Dalton. (about 65% owned)

Add in Deeper Leagues

Jackie Battle SD | RB

Even though I fully expect Mathews to still get a majority of the carries, Battle is still worth an add in a lot of leagues. Mathews was in the doghouse for fumbling week 3, and I think that lead to Battle getting more looks in week 4. Since Mathews made it through the week without fumbling, I would be shocked if he isn’t the starter next week. However you never know how these things are going to shake out, so I think Battle is worth an add in a lot of leagues just to see what happens. (about 20% owned)

Brandon Bolden NE | RB

The Patriots un-drafted rookie out of Mississippi is the latest part of the running back mess that is New England. Right when it looks like things are all figured out, her comes Bolden who goes for 137 yards on 16 carries. It’s going to take a lot for him to take over the starting job from Ridley, and you have to remember that this game was a blowout. So I am not putting a ton of stock into this, but it is certainly worth monitoring. The Patriots are known for playing the player that gives them the best chance to win, and if at some point they feel that it’s Bolden then Ridley could find himself watching from the sideline. James Jones GB | WR

With Greg Jennings having a hard time staying on the field this makes Jones an interesting fantasy option. He found the end zone 2 times week 4, and if Jennings misses any time then Jones could be a nice short term solution. It didn’t seem to be that serious of an injury for Jennings, but sometimes hamstrings can linger. So this could be an ongoing issue for Jennings for the rest of the year. (about 30% owned)

Andre Roberts ARI | WR

Ever since Kolb took over for the Cardinals their offense has looked solid. One of the biggest weapons for their offense this year has been Andre Roberts. The third year player out of Citadel is really starting to impress, and with all the attention that Larry Fitz gets he should see a ton of single coverage. (about 10% owned)

Kendall Hunter SF | RB

I love owning guys like Kendall Hunter just to stash on my bench. He is the clear cut backup to an older running back, and he has proven that when given carries he can produce. I have always been a Hunter fan, and I think he will get a chance to start at least a couple games this year once Gore gets banged up. (about 20% owned)

Joique Bell DET | RB

Bell hasn’t been much of a factor in the rushing game, but he has been a big part of the Lions passing game. I expect LeShoure to continue to handle most of the rushing duties, but if you are in a PPR league you might want to consider Bell. He isn’t going to have a ton of value as along as LeShoure is healthy, but I see Bell as a high upside bench player that could be a bye week plug in if needed in PPR leagues. (about 5% owned)

Jeremy Kerley NYJ | WR

The Jets are going to have to look to one of their young receivers to fill the void that will be left by Holmes. It looks like Holmes will be out for at least a couple weeks, and with the rookie Hill banged up as well Kerley could see an expanded role. He had a quite week 4, but he proved in the first 3 weeks that he has big play potential. (about 30% owned)

Cincinnati CIN | DEF

The Bengals D has been decent this year, and with a matchup against the Dolphins week 5 I like their chances. The Fins were able to throw the ball last week against the Cardinals, but the rookie QB still made some mistakes. I could see the Bengals getting the lead early, and the rookie QB throwing a couple picks playing from behind. (about 30% owned)

Add to Watch List

Eddie Royal SD | WR

With bye weeks in full swing you might be looking for a wide receiver spot start. I think Eddie Royal could be a great pickup and play WR for week 5 against the Saints. Royal hasn’t been a huge part of the Chargers offense, but he does have a least 2 catches in every game so far. The Saints D is terrible, and I could easily see this game turning into a shootout. (about 5% owned)

Scott Chandler BUF | TE

The Bills offense has been putting up a ton of points so far this year, and Chandler has been one of Fitzpatrick’s favorite targets in the redone. He has 4 TDs in 4 gams so far this year, and he has at least 2 catches in every game. I don’t really like Chandler as a long term solution, but he could be a decent pickup if you need bye week help. (about 30% owned)

Chaz Schilens NYJ | WR

Your eyes aren’t playing tricks, we have a Chaz sighting. Chaz showed some promise with the Raiders, but he was constantly hurt and he could never really sustain any fantasy value. He now has a new opportunity with Holmes hurt for what looks to be multiple weeks. The Jets terrible passing game just got even worse, but Chaz could have some ok short term value if you are desperate. (about 5% owned)

Donald Jones BUR | WR

I liked Jones as a really deep sleeper coming into the year, and it might be time to start thinking about picking this guy up. He has been somewhat inconsistent to this point, but he has a couple of TDs and a solid amount of catches as well. The Bills offense spreads the ball around a decent amount, but Steve Johnson demands a lot of attention which makes it a lot easier for everyone else. (about 5% owned)

Brandon Myers OAK | TE

Myers is coming off of his worst game of the year, but he is still a guy that I think should have our attention. Since the bye weeks have started there are going to be some teams looking for a fill in TE, and Myers could be your guy. He has been a huge part of the Raiders offense thus far, and I see no reason why he can’t continue to put up decent stats. (about 10% owned)
