Start ’em Sit ’em is our weekly look at favorable and unfavorable match-ups and how they might affect lineup decisions for your fantasy football team. Other than a few elite players, no one should be classified as a must start every week, and analyzing match-ups can go a long way to giving your team a weekly edge. This week however, is a little different as we are going to focus on three starts per position, these are players you have to get into your line-up. If you have any start’em sit’em questions feel free to post them in our Fantasy Football Forum.

Matt Schaub HOU vs. JAC: Start’em

Its official Matt Schaub is no longer considered a must start every week. The Texans have found a running game this year with Mr. Foster and it has really hurt Schaub’s value. Last season he threw the ball 40 plus times a game which really inflated his numbers. With all that being said he is a must start this week against Jacksonville. Even with them coming off the bye Schaub should have a monster day. No one will be able to stop Andre Johnson this week so he and Schaub will go back to a season ago with Schaub throwing the ball all over the field.

David Garrard JAC vs. HOU: Start’em

Coming off a 4 passing and 1 rushing touchdown game Garrard should have another good performance this week against the Texans. The Texans have yet to stop any QB this season so the quarterback that plays them will be on this list every single week. Now we do not expect the same career day for Garrard but anything under two touchdowns would be very surprising.

Josh Freeman TB vs. CAR: Start’em

Freeman certainly has found his favorite new target this season with the rookie Williams. The long ball connection they have had success with has really boosted his value. The other reason Freeman has had good fantasy production is his legs. You can bank on close to thirty yards rushing a contest. This week he plays a Carolina team that is battling the Bills for the number one overall selection. Expect a huge day out of all Bucs including Freeman.

Running Backs

Cedric Benson CIN vs. IND: Start’em

Benson had a tough game last week since he faced the Steelers but he is still one of the only backs in the league that gets almost all of the carries. This week he has a much better match-up with the Colts, who have had a tough time stopping the run. Benson will get over twenty touches, break hundred yards, and find the end zone. The biggest reason for all of the touches is simply to keep Manning off the field since that is the blue print to beating the Colts and Cincy needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

LeGarrette Blount TB vs. CAR: Start’em

Don’t worry he is for real, he had a couple of things against him last week. First, Atlanta is a good run defense. Second, the Bucs gave the ball to Williams at the start of the game for his one last chance. Williams failed the test and the second half was all Blount. So with Blount getting the majority of carries look for him to do some serious damage to the Panthers. Get Blount into your line-up and expect a ton of production.

Fred Jackson BUF vs. DET: Start’em

Alright we have to be honest we do not love him but we love the touches. He is getting 20+ carries a game since they shipped Lynch out of town and they are giving us no reason to think that will not continue. The Lions are giving up almost 5 yards per rush so one would think Jackson should have a decent amount of success with all of those carries.

Wide Receivers

Larry Fitzgerald ARZ vs. SEA: Start’em

It is not the pre-season anymore and Larry Fitzgerald should be starting based on match-ups at this point. This week he has a good one with Seattle. After starting off the year as the surprise team in the NFL, the Seahawks have came crashing back to earth. Eli Manning and company threw all over them last week and we know Derek Anderson has been up and down this season but one thing is certain he looks for Fitzgerald on every play (smart man) Fitz will be targeted 10+ times and should provide nice dividends for your fantasy team.

Randy Moss TEN vs. MIA: Start’em

This is nothing but a gut call but we believe that the Fins will still stack the box to stop Chris Johnson leaving Randy with single coverage. After a few bombs that might change. The main reason the Titans got Moss was to open up running lanes for Johnson so they will take the shots down the field with him to ensure that happens. Again gut call here because Fisher has said Moss will play less than 60% of the snaps but in that time he should see a few deep balls throw his way.

Mike Sims-Walker JAC vs. HOU: Start’em

Sims-Walker has been hit or miss for, well, for his career but certainly this season as well. This is one of those weeks were you start him. Since he falls into our favorite advice this season, start any wideouts against the Texans. Its been pretty much nine for nine this season so we see no reason why Sims won’t hit as well this week.

Tight Ends

Marcedes Lewis JAC vs. HOU: Start’em

He is a touchdown machine and we are all in on the Jags this week even if we feel the Texans will win this game. (for your gamblers out there – bet the over no matter what it is) Lewis has kept it up and is the main redzone target for the Jags. Lewis should find the endzone again making him the Vernon Davis of this season.

Kevin Boss NYG vs. DAL: Start’em

Dallas has been terrible on offense but their defense has been just as bad if not worse over the last few games. It looks as if they have given up and even a coaching change will not change the fact they have some weak safeties. We expect Boss to be moved around to exploit these match-ups and Eli has been looking for him in the redzone as of lack.

New York Giants NYG vs. DAL: Start’em

Jason Garrett gets a tough task ahead of him as his first week as an NFL head coach. The Giants defense has been on a tear for the past few weeks and with this being a divisional game they will not take it lightly on the Boys. The Cowboys efforts were in questions last week as Green Bay shut down their offense but even if their hearts are 110% in it this week it might not matter. If you listened last week and picked up the Giants after coming off their bye to start them vs Seattle feel free to keep on riding them this week and for the rest of the season.

Tennessee Titans TEN vs. MIA: Start’em

The Titans have been an under rated fantasy defense the entire season. Coming off the bye we really like them this week against Chad Henne who threw three picks last week. He has also been ridiculed for not taking shots down the field this season. We believe he will roll the dice and take a few more shots deep but we also believe he will lose that bet.
